What You Pay

Pay your NZD $49 Visa Allocation Fee to unlock your Interview booking with AmeriCamp. It is the first step on your path to camp, and it counts towards your total programme cost of $599 NZD (or $549 NZD on Fast Track). Your Interview is a relaxed chat about your skills, experience and what you are after, so we can match you to the right camp for you.

This will give you access to the AmeriCamp application portal, where you can start your journey to Camp! This is what the Camps will see so you tell us more about your skills, experience, and motivations for going to camp! This application will be reviewed by the AmeriCamp team, who will reach out to help you make your application the best it can be!

We then present you to camps that match your skills, experience and availability. Our NZ and UK team works on your behalf to find the right fit, then you will hear back with your placement offer.

Once you accept a placement you love, you pay your Program & Insurance Fee so we can sponsor your J1 visa. This is your final fee, there is nothing left to pay after this.
Your fee covers your visa sponsorship and medical insurance for your entire time in the US, plus your full camp experience including food and accommodation. This fee covers what you legally cannot go to camp without, your visa sponsorship and insurance, not admin for the sake of it.

You pay this so that you can apply for a Background Check!

We can only accept a Background Check applied through our system. This allows us to ensure that it is countersigned by us and avoid falsification

We encourage all applicants to apply for this early enough to allow for delays, as we have seen the Background Check process take up 10 weeks!

Once all your fees are received we sponsor your visa and release the papers with full instructions to you.

We will issue your DS-2019 form, which confirms your J-1 Visa sponsorship and makes you eligible to apply for a Visa.

You will pay this fee to your local US embassy to book a Visa interview appointment! All J-1 Visa applicants must visit the Consulate in person for a short and simple interview to confirm their Visa!

Following this appointment, the embassy will hold on to your passport to print the Visa inside and post it back to you in 5 - 10 working days

Before departing for Camp, you will attend one of our Orientations. This will be a presentation on all the essential information you need for your time in the US.

This will include details of your Visa, Insurance, Emergency Contacts, and learning more about what to expect from Camp life!

It’s time to book your flights so you can head out to Camp! We allow all our applicants to book their flights independently so they can find the best time, price, and airline for them!

We recommend waiting until you have obtained your Visa! Your Camp will provide travel information, including which airport to fly into and the arrival date. You can use our Travel Angel Dale to help you sort the best flights to Camp
