The AmeriCamp Interview is a relaxed twenty-minute conversation, not a test, and background checks can take up to ten weeks to come back, so applying early genuinely matters. The J1 visa is processed first-come, first-served through the US Consulate in Auckland, which means the counsellors who sort their paperwork early tend to have more options when it comes to placement.
